The Short Version

I'm a regular bloke from Melbourne who started playing online pokies back in 2018. After burning through a few dodgy casinos and learning some expensive lessons, I figured I'd save other Aussies the trouble by sharing what I've learned. That's this website in a nutshell.

The Longer Version

Right, so here's the full yarn. I grew up in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and like a lot of Aussie blokes, my first experience with pokies was tagging along with my old man to the RSL. He'd have a few beers, throw some coins in the machines, and I'd be off playing pool or eating chicken parmas in the bistro. Classic Australian childhood stuff.

Fast forward to 2018 and a mate at work told me about online casinos. "It's like the pokies at the pub but you play on your phone and the games are way better." Naturally, I had to give it a crack.

My first experience was... educational. I signed up at the first flashy casino I found, deposited $200, claimed a bonus I didn't properly read the terms for, and was confused when I couldn't withdraw my $340 in winnings because of wagering requirements I didn't know existed. Lesson one: read the fine print.

Over the next few months, I signed up at a bunch of different casinos. Some were great, some were average, and a couple were outright dodgy. I had one casino take two weeks to process a $150 withdrawal and another that conveniently "lost" my verification documents three times before I gave up.

Why I Started This Site

I started looking at other casino review sites for guidance and honestly, most of them were rubbish. Corporate-sounding reviews that all said the same thing, suspiciously high ratings for every casino, and clearly written by people who'd never actually deposited a cent. They were marketing brochures, not reviews.

I reckoned I could do better. Not because I'm some kind of expert — I'm not. I'm just a punter who actually uses these casinos and is willing to be straight with people about what's good and what's not.

So in late 2024, I started writing down my experiences. What began as notes on my phone turned into this website. And here we are.

How I Make Money (Being Upfront About It)

I want to be completely transparent about this because trust is the whole point of what I'm doing. This site earns money through affiliate commissions. When you click one of my "Have a Go" links and sign up at a casino, I earn a commission from that casino.

Does this influence my rankings? No. And here's why that's genuinely true: all of the casinos on my list have affiliate programmes with similar commission structures. There's no incentive for me to rank one higher than another based on what they pay me. My reputation depends on being honest — if I start recommending rubbish casinos, people stop trusting me and the site becomes worthless.

The affiliate income covers hosting costs, the time I spend testing casinos, and the odd steak dinner. It's not making me rich and that's fine. I'd rather have a smaller, trusted site than a big one that nobody believes.

My Gambling Philosophy

I want to be real with you about something: gambling is entertainment, not a way to make money. I've had good months and bad months. Overall, I'm probably slightly down over my years of playing. That's statistically normal — the house always has an edge.

I play because I enjoy it. The thrill of a bonus round, the anticipation of free spins, the social aspect of live dealer games. When it stops being fun, I stop playing. It's the same as spending money on any other hobby — going to the footy, eating out, whatever.

What I Do Outside of This

I work a normal job, I follow the Bombers (yes, I know, it's painful), I go fishing when I can, and I make a pretty decent barbecue if I say so myself. I've also got a blue heeler named Banjo who keeps me honest.

I'm just a regular bloke who happens to know a fair bit about online casinos. Nothing more, nothing less.
